ShellHacks is Florida International University’s upcoming student hackathon, taking place from September 14th to the 16th. For 36-hours, 600 students from all around the nation will come together to learn about the newest technologies, build innovative projects, and share them with the community. The theme of the hackathon is diversity, bringing students of all academic and cultural backgrounds together to celebrate technology and form solutions to the challenges in our world today.
Students will be able to hack away in FIU’s PG6 Tech Station, which includes large active learning classrooms and computer labs. Industry experts will also be on site to provide mentorship and recruit students for internships and jobs. During the hackathon there will be a variety of events such as our sponsor fair, technical workshops, company tech talks, fun activities, and more. There will also be meals and snacks served throughout the entire hackathon, tons of giveaways and swag from our sponsors, and awesome prizes for the winning teams. All for free!
ShellHacks is organized by Upsilon Pi Epsilon, the largest student organization for technology at FIU. The hackathon is affiliated with Major League Hacking (MLH), the official student hackathon league in the United States, and is supported locally by Florida International University’s College of Engineering & Computing. ShellHacks is sponsored by top companies including Spotify, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, Intel, Cisco, as well as Miami-based coding schools Wyncode, IronHack, and 4Geeks.
Hacker registration is open to all current college, university, and coding school students, as well as recent graduates. You can register here. If you’re not eligible to hack, you can also participate in the event as a mentor. If you’d like to be a mentor, please contact us at email@example.com.
