It’s #MiamiTechWeek and you’re invited!

There’s no denying that tweets have recently become a huge catalyst for major movement in the #MiamiTech ecosystem. After all, this renewed attention on the #MiamiTech movement stemmed from Mayor Francis Suarez’s famous “How Can I Help”, so it should be no surprise that the TL this week has been no different. If you’re experiencing some massive FOMO  from all the tweets about the unofficial Miami Tech Week, have no more fear – I’m here to break it all down.
So what’s the real story? Miami Tech Week is here and we’re all trying to figure it out. Well, to be fair there’s no official “Miami Tech Week” happening. What is being constantly referenced on Twitter was morphed into existence after a tweet by popular investor, Delian Asparouhov, declaring this week the “unofficial launch of Miami Tech Week”.

Confusing right? I know. Miami Tech Week is not a new idea or concept – each year the local community would look forward to the activities surrounding eMerge Americas, a popular annual homegrown conference. This gathering was often seen as our local Miami Tech Week. I’ve also realized that many folks have also confused the unofficial ‘Miami Tech Week’ with On Deck’s fellowship program with Keith Rabois, which kicks off in Miami on Thursday. But all hope isn’t lost. The local community has stepped up and have started curating meetups and events to ensure that the massive influx of founders and investors can connect with the local community. But hey, where else could you tweet a whole week of fun social gatherings into existence?
Here’s my quick rundown of events:

What’s actually happening this week?
Obviously there’s quite a bit happening (and that’s fine!). I totally recommend either finding what events your friends are attending or hosting your own (see CDC guidance on gathering while being vaccinated/unvaccinated). Just this past week I met around 10 new #MiamiTech folks after a new friend, Michael Sayman, tweeted that he was hosting a #MiamiTech meetup at The Wharf (PHOTO ABOVE). So, have no fear! Here are some of my favorite events happening this week:
Something’s brewing in the Grove this Wednesday!

I may (or may not) have heard that Mayor Francis Suarez’s office is brewing (wink wink) something special for our unofficial “Miami Tech Week” in Coconut Grove. Definitely follow Saif Ishoof and Mayor Francis Suarez on Twitter for the exclusive.
