Steven is a practicing attorney for 20-plus years at prestigious international law firms Dewey Ballantine and Mayer Brown and since 2007 has been dedicated to public service as a civil law enforcement attorney with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). He is a Senior Counsel with the SEC and served in the Asset Management Unit from 2015-2018. He earned his J.D. cum laude from Brooklyn Law School and earned his B.A. summa cum laude from Brooklyn College with Phi Beta Kappa honors. Drew Hinkes: Nominated as one of Coindesk’s Most Influential People in Blockchain in 2017, Andrew “Drew” Hinkes is an attorney with Carlton Fields, working as part of its National Blockchain and Digital Currency practice. Drew is also the co-founder and General Counsel of Athena Blockchain, a professional services firm focused on tokenized investment products. Drew was appointed as an Adjunct Professor by the NYU Stern Business School and the NYU School of Law, where he co-teaches “Digital Currency, Blockchains, and the Future of the Financial Services Industry.” Mr. Hinkes is frequently quoted and cited in articles related digital assets and blockchain technology, and regularly speaks at legal, industry, and academic conferences. Gabriel Shapiro: A corporate and securities attorney for the tech avant-garde. He is a leader in articulating law & policy solutions for blockchain technologies, and has been instrumental in advocating for new legislative solutions for digital securities. As the CEO of ZeroLaw, he leverages his many years of experience running high-stakes Silicon Valley transactions to help clients usher in the new era of DAOs, DeFi and blockchain governance informed by a consciousness of their legal obligations and the history of corporate finance, corporate governance and corporate deal-making. In his spare time he likes to code, trade cryptos, eskateboard and hang out with his loyal Shih Tzu sidekick, Kafka.
