LC101 is a unique class that seeks to provide training for in-demand tech skills that prepare successful students for apprenticeships in computer programming and information technology. LC 101 accomplishes this by using world-class curriculum and expertise from the local community, with additional skill tracks that orient students towards a job in technology.
The Lead Instructor Role
LaunchCode is seeking a highly motivated person who will serve as the Lead Instructor for this project. The Lead Instructor will be responsible for helping shape course curriculum, instructing students, coordinating instruction with Teaching Assistants, and assisting students through the coursework.
This is a contracted, part-time, paid position. The class will run for 22 weeks, beginning Tuesday, June 25, 2019 and running through Tuesday, December 10 2019. Class will meet Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. at the Hillsboro Community Center in Deerfield Beach (50 Hillsboro Technology Drive, Deerfield Beach, FL 33441) . The instructor can expect to work approximately 12 -15 hours/week on this project.
The instructor will also have the possibility to extend the contract for an additional 9-weeks from Tuesday, January 7, 2020 to Tuesday, February 25, 2020 for LaunchCode’s professional development oriented Liftoff program.
Instruct students during class sessions. This may include: lecturing, one-on-one student mentoring, and developing supplementary material.
Adapt instruction methods and material in response to student needs.
Coordinate with mentors on hours, course material, and responsibilities.
Work with students to determine best practices and individual learning methods.
Communicate with LaunchCode to provide updates and address any needs.

Love building and deploying software applications from scratch.
Are an excellent communicator and public speaker.
Plus possess excellent interpersonal and people management skills.
Pride yourself on being an effective team member in high-intensity environments and being able to thrive under pressure.
Have some teaching experience — but not mandatory.
Commensurate with experience and skills. As a contractor, no benefits are provided.
