Do success stories get any more inspiring than this? Serena Williams, the celebrated tennis champion, entrepreneur, fashion designer and venture investor, will share insights on her entrepreneurial journey with the eMerge Americas audience.
A speaker that really needs no introduction, Serena Williams will keynote the 2022 eMerge Americas, the global tech conference held annually at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The conference will be April 18-19.
The greatest female tennis player of the Open era, Williams has won 23 career Grand Slams. As if that is not enough, this Palm Beach County resident’s off the court moves are impressive too. As an entrepreneur, investor and designer, she graced the covers of Fast Company’s Most Productive People issue and Forbes’ Self Made Millionaire issues. Williams founded her venture firm, Serena Ventures, in 2014, with a focus on investing in women and founders of color. So far, she has invested in more than 20 early-stage companies. She recently authored her first children’s book, The Adventures of Qai Qai, set to be released next year.
“The eMerge Americas conference has always been a convening for founders, investors and global enterprises to experience Miami as an inclusive tech community,” said Melissa Medina, co-founder and President of eMerge Americas. “We’re thrilled to welcome Serena Williams to share her experience on the eMerge mainstage to inspire entrepreneurs to harness the same unrelenting spirit within their entrepreneurial journeys.”
Keeping it all in the celebrity family, William’s husband, Alexis Ohanian, a founder of Reddit, Initialized Capital and Seven Seven Six, his newest venture fund, will also speak at eMerge Americas. No word on whether Olympia (or Qai Qai) will make an appearance.
Other speakers include Linda Rottenberg, co-founder and CEO of Endeavor Global; Peter Smith, co-founder and CEO of Blockchain.com, Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary, and of course returning speaker Armando “Pitbull” Perez, the Grammy winning artist, investor and entrepreneur, aka Mr. 305.
After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID pandemic, eMerge Americas will return in 2022 to anchor Miami Tech Week April 17-24. In 2019, eMerge Americas attracted more than 16,000 attendees from 40 countries. Next year, with Blockchain.com as its title sponsor, eMerge has big plans to take the conference to the next level, Medina said at the recent two-day La Casa event, held for the community with Florida Funders and Carve Communications. With a mission of transforming Miami into the tech hub of the Americas, “this is all about building a community and building a forward-thinking innovative future for our ecosystem,” Medina said at La Casa.
