Wyncode Academy kicked off the new year with news: Ernie Hsiung is joining the team as the new head instructor for Wyncode’s web development program.
Said Johanna Mikkola: “Ernie has been a long-time leader in this community, even playing a role in the launch of Wyncode in Miami. To now have him joining our team as head instructor to unify and keep building this incredible South Florida tech ecosystem is a beautiful way for us to come full circle. His extensive technology career and passion for helping others couldn't be more aligned with what we work every day to achieve at Wyncode with all of our students.”
After earning a Computer Science Engineering degree in California, Hsiung worked at Yahoo!, Ning and Rackspace. Upon arriving in Miami, he co-founded Code for Miami, a volunteer “brigade” of developers, designer and, data geeks who help government and civic organizations adopt open web technologies for Miami-Dade County, before joining Whereby.Us, publisher of The New Tropic, where he led a team of developers and digital designers. “We are so thrilled to have a leader of Ernie's caliber teaching the next generation of Miami's web developers,” said Juha Mikkola.
Hsiung will be teaching the Full Stack Web Development program starting Jan. 13, 2020. He joins Wyncode’s teaching team that includes Gessica Tortolano, who leads UX/UI program. You can read more about the announcement here.
This Saturday, Wyncode is also hosting a one-day coding workshop called Wyntroduction, which is designed for people with no previous experience to get their first taste of coding. Refresh readers who would like to attend can use code REFRESHMIAMI for a $15 discount off the $25 general admission price. Find more information and register here.
